Upper eyelid surgery is a correction of the skin above your eyes, such as for drooping upper eyelids.

As we age, the skin of the eyelids loses its elasticity. As the subcutaneous connective tissue slackens, the fatty tissue is pushed forward. This creates excess skin that leads to a tired and aged-looking look. This can also cause a feeling of heaviness on the eyes and even headaches can occur. All of these can be a reason for an upper eyelid surgery.
The treatment?
Before the treatment starts, your eyelids will be cleaned. Then the doctor will draw lines on the places where the skin will be removed. The cut lines are drawn in the crease of the eye, this ensures as little scarring as possible. The treatment takes place under local anesthesia. The anesthesia ensures that you will experience no pain during the treatment. Once the anesthesia is working properly, an scalpel is used to remove the excess skin and any fatty tissue. The skin is then sutured.
What can I expect after the treatment?
After the treatment you may not drive for 24 hours, furthermore, wearing makeup is not recommended until the sutures are removed. The stitches of an upper eyelid correction will be removed 1 week after the treatment at the clinic. After removal of the sutures, you may wear makeup again. It is possible that there may be possible side effects such as redness, swelling and difficulty opening and closing the eyes. These go away within a few days to a maximum of a few weeks.
An eyelid correction takes between 30 and 45 minutes.
